Pig partners tackle fast food litter

In the New Year, ENCAMS will be working in partnership with 19 local authorities to help tackle the problem of fast food litter.

Our award-winning Dirty Pig campaign will re-launch on 12th January 2009, with posters appearing in bus shelters, phone boxes and washrooms in pubs, bars and clubs across the country.

The ten local authorities selected to participate in the campaign are:

• Torbay Council
• North Lincolnshire Council
• Colchester Council
• London Borough of Lewisham
• London Borough of Islington
• Daventry District Council
• Trafford Council
• Charnwood Borough Council
• Adur & Worthing Council
• Gateshead Council

Other local authorities supporting the campaign include:

• Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council
• Sheffield City Council
• London Borough of Sutton
• Wigan Borough Council
• Maidstone Borough Council
• South Staffordshire Borough Council
• Cannock Chase District Council
• Fenland District Council
• Braintree District Council

The campaign first ran in December 2007, achieving an overall reduction of 35% in key monitored locations throughout England. It is hoped that the forthcoming campaign will achieve similar, or even better, results.

If your authority would like to participate in the campaign or you would like to order some free posters, please contact Rebecca Joinson in the Marketing team by emailing rebecca.joinson@encams.org
